Pre-Kindergarten
Pre-elementary programs are essential to ensuring our children are ready for kindergarten and improving school performance. We have worked to sustain and expand investment in and access to quality pre-elementary programs so that all Alaska children have a strong foundation when they start kindergarten.
The efforts of the Coalition for Education Equity (formerly CEAAC) have resulted in funding for pre-kindergarten programs in dozens of Alaska schools for over a decade:
Through the Moore lawsuit settlement, over $9 million was distributed to Alaska schools to fund 2-year kindergarten and pre-literacy programs;
Our advocacy ensured sustained investment of over $10 million in pre-elementary funding since 2011.
We successfully fought for the inclusion of statewide voluntary pre-K in the Alaska Reads Act.
